LinkedIn Learning FAQs

Q: How long is the sync process?
A: We estimate 24 hours, to be sure all courses are created and synced.

Q: Can a course be categorized after it comes in with Linked in Learning?
A: A category is assigned to all LinkedIn Learning courses. We use a parent category, called LinkedIn Learning and then the category it is assigned in LinkedIn Learning. Clients can add new categories, but cannot remove the LinkedIn Learning category from the course.

Q: How often does it update?
A: LinkedIn Learning uses AICC courses, so as long as the course is accessed and launched within the Academy, the progress is instant.

Q: Can LinkedIn Learning courses be reassigned in Learning, and if so, does the reassignment trigger a reset in LinkedIn Learning?
A: Yes, you can use the reassignment (oblige to retake) feature with LinkedIn Learning.

Q: Is the “Edit Course Info” menu to be able to edit categories, credits, compliance options, and so on, or will the menu and most options be unavailable?
A: Yes, but you cannot edit the Title, Level, Language, Duration, Ext ID or remove LinkedIn Learning Categories. You can however add additional categories to courses.

Q: How long does it take for course progress to sync back to LinkedIn Learning once the training is completed in learning?
A: LinkedIn Learning uses AICC courses that use LinkedIn Learning's launch player, so the progress is instant.

Q: What happens when LinkedIn Learning retires courses? Are these be automatically archived in Learning or does the admin need to archive manually?
A: There is a nightly sync that happens when the integration is setup. If a course is retired or removed from the LinkedIn Learning library, we archive it in Learning.

Q: If users take the training directly from LinkedIn Learning instead of accessing from learning, does their completion sync to learning anyways?
A: No, we are only tracking progress of LinkedIn Learning courses assigned and launched in Learning.

Q: Would it sync if they access the course and close it from Learning at a later point?
A: Yes.

Q: If they had previously imported LinkedIn Learning content as AICC before the integration was available, would the integration recognize those courses or would it create new ones?
A: Yes, if the client selects the option at integration 'Allow newly added LinkedIn Learning files to overwrite existing version'. If they do not, the files will be ignored and new courses will be created from the integration.

Other Important Information

Courses synced from LinkedIn Learning are set as Public by default.

Each LinkedIn Learning course will be placed in the academy with its related categories. These are not editable. However, additional categories can be associated with LinkedIn Learning courses, if desired.

Certain fields in each course cannot be edited. Examples of this include the title, language, level, and ownership.

Manually marking a LinkedIn Learning course as complete updates the progress in the academy, but not in the learner's LinkedIn Learning account.

Progress is only recorded for LinkedIn Learning content taken within the academy. If a course is completed within LinkedIn Learning directly, without having gone in through your academy, the communication between LinkedIn Learning and Learning does not exist.

At this time, only LinkedIn Learning Courses are supported for synchronization through the integration. Other types of LinkedIn Learning content, such as individual videos, Learning Paths, or any other content formats, are not currently included in the sync process.
