Manage Skills

Once an academy administrator has enabled the Skills Management feature, you are ready to find and add skills relevant to your Academy. The skills that you will add will be the ones that will be assessed on each user. 

Navigation: UKG Pro Learning > Admin > Skills Management > Manage Skills

This page lists the Skills used in your Academy and includes the Skill name, the number of jobs it is mapped to, the number of courses it is mapped to, the Skill type, and actions you can perform on the skill.  Selecting the arrow by a Skill name expands it to show the description, the group(s) the skill belongs to (if any), and the available languages for the Skill.

Add Pre-Defined Skills

  1. Select the + Add Skill drop-down menu.
  2. Select Add from database to see all the available system-defined skills. The options provided are the default type, Skill. 
  3. Search for a skill by name. 
  4. Select the checkbox in the Actions column next to each skill to be added.
  5. Select the +Add to Academy button. A pop-up appears when the skill has been added to your Academy.

Add Custom Skills

You can add a custom skill if you cannot find a pre-defined skill.

  1. Select the + Add Skill drop-down menu.
  2. Select Add manually.
  3. Select a skill Type from the drop-down list.
  4. Assign the skill a Category using the drop-down list.
  5. (optional) Select a language for the skill.
    Note:
    The languages available here are the UI languages selected in your Academy's settings. Each user will see the skill titles and descriptions in their UI language.
  6. Enter a name for the Skill.
  7. Enter a Description for the Skill.
  8. (optional) If using proficiency levels in your Academy, you can enter a description for each skill proficiency level.
  9. Select Save.
  10. Once the skills have been added to your academy, you can edit them based on your needs. Select the edit icon associated with the skill title.

Group Skills

Once you have added all the appropriate skills you can put them into groups for easy distribution.

  1. Select Group Skills from the Skills Management section.
  2. Enter a name for the group at the name field and select Add New.
  3. To add skills to a Group, select the arrow associated with the group name.2022-08-15_11-04-15.png
  4. In the first column are all the skills associated with this group. In the second column are all the skills associated with your Academy. To add skills to a Group select the plus (+) icon next to a skill in the second column. Remove any skill by selecting the x icon associated with that skill in the first column.2022-08-15_11-06-30.png

You can now associate these skills and skill groups with specific jobs and courses.
